Some people believe that the only thing IT professionals do is turn things off and on again. Well, that and some adept Google-Fu and you’re halfway there. As Principal Systems Shepherd, I lovingly wrangle infrastructure, users, enterprise programs, misbehaving apps, and the occasional rogue postal machine back into compliance. Whether it’s pushing the latest updates with fingers crossed or gently guiding the lost through the sacred rituals of a password reset, my job is less “IT support” and more “existential tech counseling.” I maintain system uptime, user sanity, and Grand Reserve Status at Total Wine 😉. If you have ever emailed the helpdesk with "thingy no worky," it was someone like me that translated that from user babble to tech language, then performed network diagnostics and passive-aggressively delivered your solution back to you in your native language. I deftly work those mysterious Layer-8 problems, where the real bugs live between the keyboard and chair.

When not performing customary system restarts, I build and maintain secure environments designed to protect users from the wild west that is the worldwide web. Malware, spear phishing, viruses, and social engineering are just some of the hazards we face together. And dealing with it all takes a team effort, it can’t just be me, it must include my people, just me and my incredibly technologically simple people.
